Tony Morales ~ (a Bronx native) started his dancing in NYC where he studied Jazz, Ballet, Modern, and Afro Haitian and found a real love for Classical Modern predominantly Horton and Humphrey/Limon techniques. While studying with master teachers like Milton Myers and Ruth Currier, Mr. Morales found he also had a love for choreography and a gift to create.
As a choreographer Mr. Morales has self-produced six concerts in N.Y.C., three at The Theater of The Riverside Church, one at Cunningham Studio Theater (review N.Y. Times by Jack Anderson), his first was at Context Theater (reviewed by Author and Theologian Barry Ulanov) and most recently at The JCC of Manhattan (reviewed by Philip Gardner and beautifully photographed by Kokyat). Mr. Morales’ work has also been presented at the Downtown Dance Festival, The Hatch Festival, The Shaker Mountain Performing Arts Festival and he is very excited to perform at NYC SummerStage in August 2012.
In 2001 Mr. Morales created three new pieces in collaboration with contemporary legend Lucy Shelton and has reset older rep in collaboration with Soprano Mary-Ann Stewart, Pianist John Simmons and Cellist Erika Pickhard. Mr. Morales is currently working with Staten Island Ballet where he set his “Piano Pieces” and is about to set a new piece in collaboration with Ms. Stewart and Douglas Martin to four of Manuel de Falla's Popular Spanish Songs, and one of his late fathers songs “Amor Brutal."
